#3 in the series, but actually the second drawing I did. Ares, or Mars, is the God of War. I thought it was interesting that Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom, is also heralded as a patron of War, and is sometimes favored over Ares because she represents Strategic warfare, and Ares represents war just for the heck of it.
Though I didn't include them in the picture, Rei's crows, Phobos and Deimos were actually Ares' and Aphrodite's children. Aphrodite was actually married to Hephaestus, the God of Craftsman, artisans, and Blacksmiths, but was having an affair with Ares.
It's like a soap opera... set several thousand years in the past... just like Sailor Moon.
